'Tis the season for holiday gatherings! Instead of staying cooped up all break long, get the family out and about. Here are five splendid drinks to try this season, each created exclusively by their respective restaurant and sure to get everyone in the holiday spirit.

Lurra Cocina's Kalimotxo

Pronounced cali-mot-cho, this drink brings together a full bodied red wine and house-made cola. Sounds peculiar, but the flavor sure isn’t. This newer cocktail, originally created in the Basque region of Spain, is versatile for those picky about their drinks. Infused within the wine-cola combination is Gong Fu’s Holiday Tea Blend, Cream Assam, plus warm spices, dried fruit and a hint of of butterscotch to bring out that holiday flavor.

Pair it: Arroz Negro Paella

Americana's Krampus Kocktail

Named after Eastern European folklore “Devil Santa,” this strong cinnamon flavored cocktail sure beats downing Fireball in front of your family. Over the course of a week, orange slices are bottled up in Everclear, distilling the flavor into the spirit. Add in Templeton Rye, a few pinches each of peppercorns, berries, broken up cinnamon sticks and Bacardi Gold Rum, and you have a drink that will warm your spirits up from the cold.

Pair it: Iowa Chops

RoCA's Christmas “Spirit”

Love apple pie? Give this spirit a whirl. Though made with Titos, Goldschlager and a barspoon of bourbon-caramel, the apple cider really peaks the senses. A torched cinnamon stick garnish completes the flavor.

Pair it: sliders or beef tenderloin
