When you raise a human being, nothing goes according to plan.

Whether you're trying to have a child, raise one, or let one leave the roost, parenthood leaves a unique (and often messy) handprint on everyone involved.

The Des Moines Storytellers Project: Parenthood will feature true, first-person stories of parenting.

Register journalists Kyle Munson and Linh Ta coached each storyteller to share their tales, whether joyful or emotional, or often times, both.

Doors open at 6 p.m. May 11, with drinks for sale, and the show starts at 6:30 p.m. at Living History Farms in The Flynn Barn, 11121 Hickman Road, Urbandale.

Tickets start $10 and can be purchased at DesMoinesRegister.com/StorytellersTickets. If you have questions or need assistance, email events@dmreg.com or call 515-619-6548.
