Des Moines fire department crews arrived at the scene of a grease fire at Waveland Cafe, 4708 University Ave., Thursday at 5:45 a.m.

No major damage was reported, but crews remained on the scene to investigate a few other areas of concern.

"It was just a small grease fire," said Sherry Feldman, cafe manager of Waveland Cafe in its Booneville location. "But the fire extinguishers under the hood went off and caused a big mess. They're just getting everything cleaned up."
