Bruce Swink plays guitar in Deadfront, performing at Snoball at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Wooly's, 504 E. Locust St.
Q: How long has Snowball been going on?
Six years now. My business partner and I co-own the rights and have done it in multiple states. Here in Iowa we started with Destrophy, then Mindrite took it for a couple years. Once Deadfront started, we decided to continue on with it. Each year seems to have gotten better and as Lazer 103.3 has gotten more involved, the audience has grown each year.
Q: How has the event changed over the years?
I've performed at it five different times, and overall it feels more like an event than just another show. We had 350 people last year, our biggest year yet. This year we've worked in a new cover track as well as a guest performer, I'm looking forward to that, but I can't share details on either.
Q: What does Deadfront have coming up?
We've been in the process of recording for quite a while now. We don't have an expected release date, but we're always writing new material. We hope to release something this year. That's the nice thing about being independent; no one is setting deadlines for you. But sometimes the bad thing is no one is setting deadlines for you.
