The southeast Iowa town of Fairfield will expand greatly June 19-21 when the third annual FAIRFest is held. Headlining acts include Cyril Neville's Royal Southern Brotherhood, Fairfield native Greg Brown and bluegrass act Elephant Revival. The festival is free to attend.
In addition, Sam Llanas, formerly of the BoDeans, Ian Moore, The Pines, Shook Twins, Pieta Brown, Giving Tree Band, Muddy Ruckus, Chad Elliot and Gipsy Moon will be in attendance. Around 20 more local and regional acts will be added soon.
Last year featured headlining acts Los Lobos and Rebirth Brass Band. The festival is held at multiple locations around Fairfield, including outdoor stages, the Sondheim Center for Performing Arts and The Arbor Bar.
The downside is the festival is the same weekend as Mumford & Son's Gentleman of the Road Stopover in Waverly. But tickets to that show are $200, while FAIRfest is free.
