The Mexican acoustic guitar duo Rodrigo y Gabriela will perform June 25 at Hoyt Sherman Place. The group, consisting of Rodrigo Sanchez and Gabriela Quintero, plays instrumental duets that are influenced by flamenco, rock and heavy metal.
Rodrigo y Gabriela released its fourth album, "9 Dead Alive," last year. In live shows, the band often throws in their take on songs like Radiohead's "Creep," Black Sabbath's "War Pigs" and Metallica's "Orion."
Rodrigo y Gabriela was supposed to perform at Hoyt Sherman Place in 2010 but ended up canceling its entire US tour due to injuries Quintero had received.
Madisen Ward and The Mama Bear will open the show. Tickets are $49-$59 and go on sale Friday through Ticketmaster or at the Hoyt Sherman box office, where you won't pay ticketing fees.
