Days before the “official” release of her newest single, “Chained to the Rhythm,” pop superstar Katy Perry is giving fans a chance to hear the song in full. But only if you hunt for it.
Disco balls playing the track are hidden in cities across the globe, including Des Moines. All you have to do is find one, bring a pair of headphones, plug into the ball and jam. Perry unveiled a preview to the track yesterday via Instagram and indicated the full song would drop (in places other than disco balls) Friday.
Want to find the Des Moines disco ball? Here’s a hint: it’s in a nomadic place. Dress warm. Snow and cold temperatures are expected throughout the metro Wednesday afternoon.
Globes have been spotted in London, Berlin, New York City, Toronto, and Stockholm. Follow the hashtag #chainedtotherhythm on social media to keep track of where fans find each disco ball. Perry revealed the campaign via Twitter Wednesday morning.
Katy Perry last performed in Des Moines on Oct. 24, 2015, at a Hillary Clinton rally. The pop star performed a handful of numbers outside Hy-Vee Hall, including hits “Roar” and “Firework.”
The award-winning pop star is confirmed to perform the new track at the 59th Grammy Awards, which can be seen Sunday on CBS at 7 p.m. Lady Gaga, Metallica, The Weeknd, Demi Lovato, Bruno Mars and many others are also scheduled to appear at the annual music awards show.
