One of the world's most-hyped rap groups is bringing its show of chart-topping hits to central Iowa this summer.
Migos, the group behind international sensation "Bad and Boujee," is set to take over the Seven Flags Events Center stage on July 7, the group's first-ever performance in the Des Moines metro. Early bird tickets cost $50 and VIP packages are available for $100, according to the Seven Flags Events Center website. Doors to the show open at 6 p.m.
Migos, a three-piece rap group featuring rappers Quavo, Takeoff and Offset, released its second studio album, "Culture," in January to positive reviews from critics. Rolling Stone referred to the group, whose record debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 album chart, as "the most influential Southern rap crew of the last few years." Along with the No. 1 Billboard charting "Bad and Boujee," the record features tracks such as "T-Shirt" and "Slippery (featuring Gucci Mane)."
In pop culture, the Georgia-born Migos were launched further into the international spotlight when Donald Glover called the group the "Beatles of this generation" during a 2017 Golden Globes acceptance speech for Best Television Comedy for his work on "Atlanta."
“There’s a generation of kids that are growing up on something that’s completely separate from a whole group of people," Glover said in the speech. "That song [‘Bad and Boujee’] is just fly."
Lil Uzi Vert, the rapper featured on "Bad and Boujee," is also scheduled to appear in Clive this summer; he is scheduled to hit the Seven Flags stage on May 19. More scheduled summer shows at the suburban Des Moines venue include Machine Gun Kelly, Hinder, Travis Scott and Kip Moore.
