One weekend still remains in the 2017 Iowa State Fair, but organizers are already gearing up for what 2018 plans to offer.
Fair officials confirmed Thursday night that country star and Grandstand regular Reba McEntire is set to return to the fair on Aug. 10, 2018. McEntire, a two-time Grammy Award winner, previously performed on the Iowa State Fair’s premier stage six times, starting in 1989 and as recently as 2015. Fair officials said more information, including ticket prices and on-sale date, would be available in the coming weeks. The 2018 Iowa State Fair runs Aug. 9-19.
Appearing on the Grandstand stage ahead of Thursday night’s Alabama and Charlie Daniels Band show, 92.5 Nash ICON radio personality Eddie Hatfield unveiled the first confirmed show of 2018.
“The fair board gave me a secret a few minutes ago, and I can't keep it a secret much longer,” Hatfield said, appearing in a Facebook live video on the Nash ICON page. “How ‘bout this? How ‘bout next year at the Iowa State Fair we all get together and we welcome Reba McEntire?”
McEntire, 62, released her latest studio record, “Sing It Now: Songs of Faith & Hope,” earlier this year. She’s known for smash hits such as “Because of You,” “Fancy,” “Consider Me Gone” and “Turn on the Radio.” McEntire is also known for her acting, having notably appeared in Broadway shows and on the 2000s sitcom "Reba."
The celebrated country star brought 10,335 people to the Grandstand for her 2015 performance.
