Des Moines Register music writer Joe Lawler gives you nine facts about the artists featured at this summer's 80/35 music festival that you may not know.
The Des Moines Music Coalition announced 14 new bands Thursday night for the July 10-11 80/35 Music Festival in Western Gateway Park. The only non-Iowa act in the mix is the Chicago rock band The Orwells.
Also added to the festival were The Maytags, Damon Dotson, Christopher the Conquered, Annalibera, Brazilian 2wins, Asphate, The High Crest, Mighty Shady, Parranderos Latin Combo, The Olympics, prettygirlhatemachine, Karen Meat & the Computer and Fuzzy Logic. Also added were DJs Dem Boyz, Jade Reed, Jesse Jamz, Tobias Cross, DJ Raj, Brad Goldman and Rack City.

They join previously announced headliners Weezer and Wilco, along with Run the Jewels, Jenny Lewis, Lettuce, St. Lucia, Talib Kweli, Cloud Nothings and others. This announcement greatly increased the number of Iowa bands playing the festival; the only previously announced Iowa band was Canby.
Tickets are $39 per day in advance or $59 for a two-day pass. Tickets are available through midwestix.com.
