Samantha Clark is a big dog lover who always imagined her wedding day would involve puppies.
The Pleasantville 23-year-old's dreams became a reality Saturday.
"I don't think anyone thought I was crazy enough to really go through with it," Clark told the Register on Monday. "Everyone loved it.
"You can't deny puppies."
Clark teamed up with De Soto-based AHeinz57 Pet Rescue and Transport for the puppies on her special day. She said the animal shelter was "totally on board" with the idea.
"I was worried they'd be skeptical," Clark said, "but they were more than willing to help any way they could. They were awesome."
Amy Heinz, owner of AHeinz57, said the animal shelter was "pretty delighted" when Clark asked about using puppies in her wedding.
"It was a really sweet way to bring raise awareness to rescue dogs," Heinz said.
The puppies used were a Chiweenie breed, which is a chihuahua and dachshund mix. Clark said they turn 8 weeks old this week.

Other than the cuteness overload in photographs and videos from the ceremony, Clark wanted try and raise awareness for AHeinz57 and rescue dogs. Earlier this month, the animal shelter traveled to Texas and rescued 96 dogs and five cats displaced by Hurricane Harvey.
Clark said they had a lot of adoptable dogs available at the reception and that all the proceeds raised from the dollar dance would go to AHeinz57.
Everyone "gasped" and "loved it" when Clark and her bridesmaids walked down the aisle with the puppies. And so did the internet.
AHeinz57 on Sunday shared photos on Facebook of Clark and her bridesmaids holding the puppies. The post has over 2,000 interactions and more than 285 shares as of 9 a.m. Monday.
Many of the post's 175-plus comments are along the lines of "forget the flowers" and "this is the greatest idea ever." Clark credits Pinterest for the inspiration.
Unfortunately, Clark did not take a puppy home with her because she already has three dogs. She said the puppies' foster mom attended the ceremony and left with them after the reception.
Heinz added the puppies will be available for adoption soon.
But was this a day to remember for the rest of the newlyweds' lives?
"Yes, oh gosh yes," Clark said. "It was definitely something that I've always dreamt of, but never thought it'd actually happen."
