A random act of Iowa kindness strikes in downtown Des Moines again. The Downtown Des Moines Community Alliance posted on Facebook about a box full of gloves and hand warmers on the sidewalk at Seventh and Locust Street. The sign in the box read, "COLD? Take a pair of gloves and hand warmers." Solid move, considering this week saw temperatures in the single digits.
A reasonable question, considering this week's Powerball jackpot is a reported billion-and-a-half dollars. Some Iowans said they'd give to charity or leave their job. Paying off student loans doesn't sound like a bad option, either. What would you do if you woke up one morning with over a billion dollars in your bank account? Tweet Juice and let us know.

In anticipation of the forthcoming Feb. 1 Iowa caucuses, Court Avenue Brewing Company's launched a "Caucus Ale" beer and long-sleeved T-shirt, available at the restaurant and brewery in downtown. Pro tip: Visit the taproom during happy hour — Monday through Friday, 4-6 p.m. — for specials on drinks and food.

Remember Tally's in Beaverdale? That building's being taken over by a new lounge and restaurant called Reed's Hollow. The restaurant plans to serve brunch, possibly lunch and dinner at the new spot, with local beer options on tap. Look for its doors to open in early February.
