The unofficial end to summer may have passed us, but there's still plenty of entertainment options slated to take place in central Iowa this weekend.
As noted above, Maximum Ames Music Festival returns to downtown Ames for its sixth year of bringing diverse offerings of local, regional and national talent. Headliners this year include influential country act Lavender Country and DJ Yella of NWA fame. Bonus: a comedy set from Todd Barry is scheduled for Sept. 17.
Start emptying your stomachs now: the Fall Food Truck Showdown returns to the Pappajohn Sculpture Park on Oct. 7. The free event is set to feature more than 15 food trucks — including tacos, burgers, pizza and everything in-between. Here’s a look at the full food truck lineup, which dropped earlier this week.
Happy hour highlight: Lookin’ to spend your weekend on a patio? (Hint: you probably should be). Here’s a Juice list of 15 new rooftops and patios in the metro.
ICYMI: Let award-winning Register photographers teach you how to take photos of your food. Seriously. It's an event. Use the promo code JUICE for 20 percent off tickets.
Wait, there's even more!
- The World Food and Music Festival kicks off Friday in downtown.
- Not into food festivals? WWE returns to Des Moines on Friday.
- And, if either of those aren’t for you, here’s a look at more than 60 music events (and that’s just a start) hitting Iowa this fall.
