Fall purists (like myself) may consider this week's weather to be unreasonably hot (it is), but a full weekend of fall-friendly events are still slated for the metro. Here's a look at what's going on.

Wait, is it really fall? Are we sure?

Unseasonably hot weather, be damned! Don't let a little September humidity deny you of any fall traditions ... including checking out an apple orchard this weekend. Juice put together a list of 8 orchards and pumpkin patches in the area for your fall fix.  Bonus: here's a look at where and when to catch the best fall colors in Iowa this year.

Taking the show on the road.

The latest Juice Side Sessions (you know, that video series where we film Iowa artists performing songs live in different Iowa locations) captured Waterloo trio Sires performing on a bike taxi ... while the taxi rode around downtown Des Moines. See for yourself here and get caught up with the Juice Side Sessions series here.

Things to do that are way better than sitting on the couch:

  • Friday and Saturday: Here are 5 things you need to know before heading to Des Moines' Oktoberfest celebration this weekend.
  • Saturday and Sunday: The Latino Heritage Festival takes over Western Gateway Park this weekend. Here are 6 ways to celebrate.
  • Monday: The Des Moines Register and Young Professionals Connection are hosting a presidential debate watch party at the Des Moines Social Club. Learn how you can get involved.
