The Mountain Goats, Grand Master Flash headlining Maximum Ames Fest
Indie folk group The Mountain Goats and hip-hop pioneer Grand Master Flash will headline the fifth annual Maximum Ames Music Festival, held Sept. 10-13 at multiple venues around Ames.
The Mountain Goats (Sept. 12) will be a familiar act to Max Ames attendees; Frontman John Darnielle performed a solo Mountain Goats set as the headliner for the first Maximum Ames in 2011. The Mountain Goats' 15th album, "Beat the Champ," came out in April. The Mountain Goats will perform Sept. 12 at First United Methodist Church in Ames.
Grand Master Flash (Sept. 10) got his start with The Furious Five in the mid 70's, going on to make hits like "White Lines" and "The Message." Flash and the group were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2007. Flash's show will be at DG's Tap House.
