Hinterland Music Festival

Friday-Saturday: The first annual Hinterland Music Festival opens its gates at 4:30 p.m. Friday and noon Saturday at Water Works Park, 2201 George Flagg Parkway. Friday is headlined by Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros with Future Islands, TV on the Radio and The Envy Corps performing. Hinterland After Parties

Friday-Saturday: After the music stops at Water Works Park, things move to Wooly's, 504 E. Locust St., for Hinterland after parties. Comedy Charity Tampon Show

Friday: The Puterbaugh Sisterz comedy group from Chicago headlines The Comedy Charity Tampon Show, a benefit for Central Iowa Shelter & Services, at 9:30 p.m. Friday at the Des Moines Social Club, 900 Mulberry St. Ashley Huck, Kate Bennett, Rachel Weeks, Clare Roth and Madeleine Russell will also perform.
