Who should be the next classic hip-hop act at the fair?
So what comes next for classic hip hop at the fair? Vanilla Ice, Tone Loc, Coolio and The Ying Yang Twins have all played.
Here's my suggestion for the future:
MC Hammer: Vanilla Ice was huge, his dancing contemporary would be just as big.
Run-DMC: Rev. Run and DMC have only performed occasionally since the 2002 murder of Jam Master Jay, but next year marks the 30th anniversary of "Raising Hell." Maybe the kings of rock will reunite.
Skee-Lo: The "I Wish" rapper has performed in Des Moines several times and his one hit is the kind a lot of people who grew up in the 90s know.
Kool Moe Dee: A little more old school, but one of the greats of the genre.
LL Cool J: One of the first hip hop acts to break into the mainstream, and he's stayed in the public conscious thanks to his film and TV work.
