This year, Des Moines is poppin’ with New Year’s Eve festivities. Whether you’re ready to toast the town or need something the whole crew can enjoy, we’ve got 27 fun options for you. Cheers to 2016!


GuideOne ImaginEve: Des Moines’ biggest NYE event for kids with inflatable rides, bounce houses, mascots, carnival games with prizes, costumed characters, toddler zone, and dancers. Times Square-like confetti drop at 8 p.m. followed by a spectacular fireworks show at 8:15 p.m. Free. Hy-Vee Hall, 733 Third St., 4-8 p.m.

The Bash Goes Pop: Live musical performances, DJs, art installations, dancing, celebrating, plus Des Moines’ only human ball drop and their world famous-ish Champagne of Beers toast at midnight. 8 p.m. - 1:30 a.m. at the Des Moines Social Club, 900 Mulberry St. $30-$125.

New Year’s Eve Pops: The Texas Tenors:  The Texas Tenors make their debut with the Des Moines Symphony. This talented trio thrilled audiences on America’s Got Talent. See them at the Des Moines Civic Center, 221 Walnut St., 8 p.m. $25-$74.

Noon Year’s Eve: Celebrate 12 hours early with a balloon drop at noon, face painting, balloon animals and a magician at the Science Center of Iowa, 401 W. Martin Luther King Jr. Pkwy., 9 a.m. - noon. Free with $7-$11 general admission ticket.

Born Wild New Years Eve: Dance it up with DJ Eight Ten, DJ Richie Daggers and Michael Watson at the Gas Lamp, 1501 Grand Ave. Doors 8 p.m., music 9:30 p.m. $15 at the door.

The Poison Control Center New Year’s Eve Concert: Jam to Ames' band The Poison Control Center, plus music from Quick PissKaren MeatDJ What Gives and DJ Hogstyle. Vaudeville Mews, 212 Fourth St. Doors 8 p.m., show 9 p.m.

Comedy Xperiment: Join CXP for the best improv comedy in town, a champagne toast at midnight and tasty treats. Doors open at 9 p.m. for dessert and the show begins at 10 p.m. Des Moines Performing Arts Stoner Studio Theater, 221 Walnut St., 9 p.m. $25 per person or $40 per couple.

Downtown Countdown: A New Year’s Eve package at Embassy Suites includes tickets to STAR 102.5 events, evening reception, dinner, music from Flipside and The Spazmatics, champagne toast, balloon drop and breakfast. Sober Under the Stars:  Ring in 2016 with an alcohol and drug-free celebration of recovery! Sober Under The Stars is a New Years Eve celebration at the Science Center of Iowa, with AA and NA meetings on the hour, snacks provided, fireworks star show at midnight, I-Max movies, a variety of SCI activities and programs. 401 W Martin Luther King Jr Pkwy. $7 adults, $5 children (ages 2-12).


New Year’s Eve at Brenton Skating Plaza: Skate into the New Year from 10 a.m. - midnight at Brenton Skating Plaza, 520 Robert D. Ray Drive. $6.50 admission, $3.75 skate rental.

Pianopalooza: Dueling pianos by Tony Bohnenkamp and Jerry Lorenson at Wooly’s, 504 E. Locust St. 9 p.m. $20-$150.

Lime Lounge VIP NYE 2015: Midnight appetizer and dessert buffet, champagne toast and party favors at Lime Lounge, 435 E. Grand Ave., 9 p.m. $25-$108.

The Garden's Annual New Years Eve Bash:  Doors open at 8 p.m., drag shows at 10 p.m. and 12:30 a.m. Enjoy a balloon drop, over $3,000 in cash and prizes and a complimentary champagne toast at The Garden Nightclub, 112 SE Fourth St. $10.

Val Air's New Year’s Eve: Multiple DJs and performances, cash drop, champagne toast, VIP bottle service and dancing at Val Air Ballroom, 301 Ashworth Road, West Des Moines, 10 p.m. $10.


Monkey, Monkey, Monkey: Monkey Monkey Monkey is a Des Moines-based cover band that plays hits from bands of all different eras, including The Eagles, Counting Crows, Rolling Stones, Bon Jovi, and Uncle Cracker, and even some original songs. No One Here Gets Out Alive - Doors Tribute: A special New Years Eve Celebration with No One Here Gets Out Alive - Doors Tribute.  Also featuring for the first time ever The Bettys (supergroup from 5 amazing local bands). Doors 8 p.m., show 9 p.m. Lefty's Live Music, 2307 University Ave. $10.

Bounce In The New Year:  Spend your NYE at Pump It Up. Special events registration is suggested. Everyone will needs socks and a waiver to play. You must be 34" tall to play on the inflatables. 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Pump It Up of Urbandale, 4069 121st St.

Brazilian Cultural Center NYE Party:  BCC invites you and your family for a night of celebration, food, music, dance and entertainment! Come and savor delicious appetizers and sweets, enjoy kid-friendly activities as well as entertainment for adults with karaoke, games, dance and fun. $25 by December 20, $30 after December 20. No tickets sale at the door. Under 10 years old: free. BYOB: beer, wine and champagne allowed. 


New Year’s Eve Extraveganza: Music from Jon Wayne & The Pain plus a champagne toast, prizes, special quests and more. Mumford’s and Doctor Murdock open the show at DG’s Tap House, 125 Main St., Ames, 8 p.m. $20.
