And the 4 surviving beers in the Register's all-Iowa Beer Brackets are ...
It's a penultimate matchup between four of Iowa's favorite beers in the Register's all-Iowa Beer Brackets.
Breweries from Knoxville, Cedar Falls, Clear Lake and West Okoboji represent the Beer Brackets' surviving semifinal class of 2019. Voting for the round of four takes place now through March 25, when the finals launch. The Register crowns a 2019 Beer Brackets champion March 27.
Your 2019 final pour:
- CocO Stout (West O Beer, West Okoboji) vs. Peanut Butter Porter (Lake Time Brewing, Clear Lake)
- Blonde Fatale (Peace Tree Brewing, Knoxville) vs. Tip The Cow (SingleSpeed Brewing, Cedar Falls)
The semifinal round features a pair of award-winning beers: CocO Stout, a chocolate stout from northwestern Iowa, brought home gold in 2014 and 2015 at the Great American Beer Festival; Blonde Fatale, a Belgian blonde, earned a gold medal in 2014 at the World Beer Cup.
Tip The Cow, a cocoa espresso milk stout from the Cedar Falls and Waterloo-based SingleSpeed, enters the final four for a first time. A popular Iowa stout, craft fans can find it on tap or in cans in the Des Moines metro.
Jelly's favorite Iowa beer, Peanut Butter Porter, also makes its semifinal debut. Hailing from the shores of Clear Lake, the brewery describes this beer as combining " ... that creamy chocolate peanut butter flavor with a robust porter." You can snag Peanut Butter Porter from most metro craft beer providers.
