If you happened to see a lemonade stand in eastern Iowa last weekend and were hoping for a refreshing beverage, you may have been offered an ultra-rare, unreleased sneaker instead.
Kim Kardashian West announced on March 22 that her husband, the musician and fashion mogul Kanye West, along with Adidas had partnered with families in several locations — including Cedar Rapids and Waterloo — to man pop-up lemonade stands across the country to sell Yeezy Boost 700 V2 “Geode” shoes.
Proceeds from the shoe sales were donated to the National Alliance on Mental Illness, according to Kardashian West, and the "unexpected" locations that hosted the lemonade stands were chosen "in the continued spirit of bringing people and families together."

The Iowa families who manned the charitable lemonade stands were identified as the Smith family in Waterloo and the Brown Family in Cedar Rapids by a Kardashian West-approved Twitter account.
The Yeezy "Geode" shoes were sold at $300 a pair, though it's unclear how many were sold at either of the Iowa locations or throughout the promotion, which also took place in cities like Indianapolis and Minneapolis along with smaller towns like Alton, Illinois, and West Chester, Ohio.
Neither Adidas or NAMI were available for comment.
