The Big Country Bash is returning this summer and this time, it's being held at the all-new Des Moines Water Works Amphitheater.
The country music event is transforming from a festival into a series for 2019 and it's announced four different acts so far that are coming to Des Moines.
What started as a one-day show grew into a two-day show and has now grown into four different weekends over the summer.
- The announced acts: Country stars Clint Black, Chase Rice, Cody Johnson & Mark Chesnutt and Maren Morris will take the stage.
- Dates: They will perform on June 22, July 18, Sept. 7 and Sept. 26, respectively.
- Location: Water Works Park at 2201 George Flagg Parkway
- Tickets: Prices for the concerts vary. They go on sale May 3 at 10 a.m. at nashfm973.com and 925nashicon.com.
Over 14,000 people attended Big Country Bash last year in St. Charles and organizers said large crowds are expected at the new amphitheater.
"A lot of people have a lot of affection for Water Works Park because that's where the concerts used to be," said Chad Taylor-Zimmerman, operations manager for Cumulus Media. "It just made sense."
In previous years, Big Country Bash attracted emerging artists like Blake Shelton, Luke Bryant, Little Big Town and Jake Owen before they exploded on the country scene.
More acts may be announced at a later time.
"We are planning the party of the summer," Taylor-Zimmerman said. "Everyone who comes out here has a wonderful time."
