Brenton Skating Plaza reopening for a new season in November

Des Moines’ outdoor ice skating rink Brenton Skating Plaza is opening for its 14th season Friday, Nov. 15. The skate plaza is located in the heart of downtown Des Moines on the Principal Riverwalk at 520 Robert D. Ray Drive.
Season passes are now available for $225 for adults and $125 for children. There will be an additional $2.50 per visit for skate rental. On Nov. 15, hours will run from noon to 11 p.m. Brenton Skating Plaza is open seven days a week, including holidays, from Nov. 15 to March 1.
Brenton Skating Plaza hours:
- 5-9 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays
- Noon-11 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays
- Noon-6 p.m. Sundays
Season pass admission:
- Adults: $225
- Child (6-12) and seniors 62+: $125
- Skate rental: $2.50
Single session admission to Brenton Skating Plaza:
- Adults: $9
- Child (6 -12 )/military/seniors 62+: $5.50
- Skate rental: $5
- Admission is $1 more on holidays
Street parking is available on Robert D. Ray Drive and through the Historic East Village from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Mondays to Saturdays. On Sundays, parking is free. There is additional parking in the lot behind the Argonne Armory Building north of Brenton Skating Plaza or in the Iowa Workforce Development parking lot northeast of Brenton Skating Plaza after 5 p.m. on weekdays.
