Take a chance on these odd new foods at the Iowa State Fair
A panel of celebrity judges picked a Best New Deal winner and two finalists for the Best New Food as the Iowa State Fair unveiled all the new foods for 2018.
With 56 items in the new foods lineup at the Iowa State Fair, you can expect some to be the usual calorie-laden, deep-fried crazy concoctions on a stick.
But some new foods this year have gone over the top when it comes weirdness, each with unusual presentations and unique flavor combinations.
Cookie Dough Spaghetti
This dessert dish is a fun take on cookie dough in the form of a plate of spaghetti and meatballs with red sauce. Cookie dough spaghetti noodles are topped with a Ferrero Rocher chocolate "meatball," while the red sauce is substituted with a strawberry dessert sauce. Get this at Dipped in Chocolate on the outer perimeter of the Livestock Pavilion for $6.

Muddy Pig on a Stick
Sink your teeth into this marshmallow-based, soft and chewy pink popcorn treat formed into the shape of a pig. It's served on a stick after it's been half-dipped in chocolate. Find it at Snappy Popcorn, east of Little Hands and north of the Animal Learning Center for $4.
Peculiarly rich, this combination of chopped pastrami, tangy sauerkraut and Thousand Island dressing is all melded together in a creamy cheese sauce and served on a soft bun. Find it at Pickle Dawg, located on the north side of the Walk on Triangle for $4.
