Iowa has some of the cheapest beer in the country (and the price is dropping)

Iowa has some of the cheapest beer in the country, according to a recent list of prices by SimpleThriftyLiving.com.
Iowa ranked 15th for the lowest price for a case of beer at $17.18 in 2019.
But in 2017, the price for a case of beer in Iowa was $17.81. That's a drop by 63 cents over two years.
Illinois has the cheapest beer in the country at $15.20 per case while Alaska topped the list at double what Illinois pays: $31.21 per case.
The list of prices followed the lead of a 2017 study by the same website using prices from a mix of 10 rural and urban zip codes per state for 24-packs of Bud Light and Miller Lite.
The retail prices of the two cases of beers were rounded together to the nearest cent before taxes and recycling fees.

According to the "Simple. Thrifty. Living." website, Michigan's price for a case of beer increased by $1.50 since 2017.
Pennsylvania was the most expensive state to buy beer in 2017, but the price there has since dropped by 40 cents.
