Popular Jordan Creek restaurant and wine bar closing its doors after over 14 years
Do you ever love a wine so much, you wish you could just live inside the bottle?
A restaurant that has been a part of the Jordan Creek Town Center for over 14 years is closing its doors at the end of the month.
The Wine Experience, a full-service restaurant, wine bar and wine store will close at the end of the day on March 23.
"There's someone coming into the old Younkers store and there's going to be construction going on so the mall is basically discontinuing our lease," owner Tom Henry said. He's owned the restaurant and wine store for 14 and a half years with his wife, Lane.
The Wine Experience opened on Aug. 4, 2004 — on the same day Jordan Creek Town Center opened. The restaurant is located inside the Younkers store and remained there after Younkers closed.

Henry said he could not say what the construction project will be. Representatives from Jordan Creek Town Center were not available for comment.
The restaurant is known for its Reuben sandwiches, handmade pizza and lobster bisque. In addition to a full lunch and dinner menu, the store sells wine by the bottle, gift baskets and assorted cheeses.
A post on The Wine Experience's Facebook page confirmed the closure.
Henry said at this time, they have no intention of opening another location in Des Moines.
"My wife and I don't really want to move and start over," Henry said. "Hopefully, I will be moving to another establishment to be in charge at some level of their wine business, but nothing is firm yet.
"It is what it is. We've come to accept it. We've already gotten condolences from people."

The remaining wine inventory will be sold at a 10 percent discount until the supply of bottles is depleted.
And the full lunch and dinner menu is available until ingredient supplies run out. Wine by the glass will continue to be available during this time.
"We’ve made lots of great friends and customers and we fully appreciate your continued support," the Facebook post said. "Thanks again for all the wonderful memories."
