Foodies, unite: The Food Truck Throw Down returns to Des Moines on May 4
Get your appetites ready, food truck aficionados.
The fifth annual Food Truck Throw Down is kicking off summer with a celebration of culinary art on Saturday, May 4, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. About 15 local food trucks will converge on Cherry Street between Eighth and 10th Streets.
More than 5,000 attendees are expected for the celebration of food, music, art fanfare hosted by the Des Moines Social Club.
In addition to the food trucks, the event will host live music, beer tents, art activities and a food judging contest. The event takes place on the opening day of the downtown Des Moines farmers' market.
Participating food trucks and entertainment will be announced closer to the event date.

Admission is $5 per person and children 10 and under are free. Samples of food are $2 each, and attendees can vote for their favorite dishes for the Des Moines Register People’s Choice Award. Cash and credit cards will be accepted.
Drink tickets must be purchased to redeem at the bars. All beverages cost one drink ticket and each drink ticket costs $6. One ticket is also good for two non-alcoholic beverages.
All proceeds from the Food Truck Throw Down will support the Des Moines Social Club’s mission of using the arts as a catalyst to create unprecedented community engagement.
