Des Moines is losing a popular pizza place in Beaverdale.
The restaurant was known for its Jerseyville pizza, a style passed down for generations in the owner's family, that was available by the slice and the whole pie.
The pizza shop is owned by Aaron Milik, who bought the business — formerly named Jersey Guys — in 2015. Milik also owns GoodSons Bar at 2815 Beaver Ave., which opened in 2008.
"It has been a great four and a half years and I would like to thank every one of our patrons for believing in us," Milik wrote. "We’ve had some outstanding staff over that time that always did their best to provide you quality food and service. We’d even like to thank those who weren’t so happy with us. We’ve learned from you and you helped make us a better place."
One of GoodSons' specialty pies is named the Beaverdale Pizza, a combination of red sauce with mozzarella, pepperoni, sausage, green peppers, onions and mushrooms. Other offerings include appetizers, smothered fries, sandwiches, cheesesteaks, wings, salads, baked pasta dishes and calzones.
The post went on to say the restaurant will have a new owner, but it remains unclear what the concept will be.
Milik intends to devote more time to GoodSons Bar in the months ahead with new changes in store.
"I will be making some changes to the GoodSons Bar menu in the coming months that I’m very excited about," Milik said. "Again, with the intent to make GoodSons the place you want to be. Keep an eye on our website and Facebook as we announce updates."
