Mexican Flavors and Craft Beer

Authentic Mexican Flavors & Craft Beer Tasting

Sept. 25, 6-8 p.m.; CULA 921:100/CRN 16345

Enjoy an evening of authentic Mexican dishes and craft beer. Mexican food is often bright, vibrant and lively — never afraid of acidity and piquant herbs. And they need a beer that won't dampen their brightness. During this paired tasting, you will enjoy 5-6 small authentic Mexican plates taught by Chef Katie Van Dyke who learned from Latino cooks while working in Northern California. Chef Logan Lumley, a level one cicerone (certified beer server), will pair these dishes with craft beers that bring a little something extra to the table.

Wine Country

Wine Country Food & Wine Tasting

Oct. 23, 6-8 p.m.; CULA 922:100/CRN: 16346

Enjoy glasses of wine with their perfect food partners. During this Wine Country paired tasting presented by wine educator Sandra Taylor, you can enjoy five or six small plates using a wine region's signature herbs and old-world culinary roots paired expertly with its wines to create an epicurean harmony. This experience promises to leave you feeling inspired with lots of new flavors and ideas for years to come.

Asian Inspiration

Asian Inspired Food & Wine Tasting

Nov. 1, 6-8; CULA 923:100/CRN 16347

Experience the versatility of wine in this Asian-inspired food and wine pairing, specially curated to highlight the flavors of Asia. With an array of complex flavors including sweet, spicy, sour, bitter and salty, Asian cuisine can be difficult to pair with wine. However, there is a perfect wine pairing for every Asian dish during this tasting. Join fellow Iowa culinary chefs in a shared tasting experience that will include five to six small Asian-themed bites paired with wines that will emphasize balance while standing up to assertive flavors.
