Dumpling Darling in East Village has announced it will close permanently on Nov. 26
Even if you left your cup of noodles behind in college, you could be at risk.
An East Village dumpling house is closing its doors after nearly two years in business.
Dumpling Darling, located at 212 E. 3rd St. in a renovated historic building that once housed an ostrich hatchery, announced on its Facebook page that its last day of service will be on Nov. 26.
Owned by Lesley Triplett, a Highland Park, Illinois native,Dumpling Darling will continue to operate in its Iowa City location.
"It is with heavy hearts that we announce that Dumpling Darling Des Moines will be closing at the end of the month," Dumpling Darling said in a post on its Facebook page. "Our last day will be Tuesday, November 26."
The restaurant serves a wide assortment of handmade dumplings (both steamed and fried) and other Asian-inspired dishes such as steamed buns, bulgogi beef with spicy kimchi, vegan cashew tempeh, edamame, roasted ramen salad and several varieties of fried rice.
The restaurant also serves other international dumpling varieties such as pierogi, pelmenis and mac and cheese dumplings.
Dumpling Darling opened in the East Village in July 2018. The recipes for dumplings and other dishes were inspired from when Triplett lived in Korea teaching English for a year in 2010.
"We would be so grateful to have one last chance to serve you and say goodbye," the Facebook post said. "This is incredibly difficult for the entire dumpling family and if there is one thing you can do for us, it’s this. When you go out to eat, go to your favorite local restaurants and go there often. Thanks for the memories Des Moines."
