Des Moines Bucs, Iowa Wild
Friday-Saturday, Tuesday: Local hockey teams The Des Moines Buccaneers and the Iowa Wild both close out their seasons this week. The Bucs take on Bloomington at 7 p.m. Friday and Tri-City at 7:05 p.m. Saturday at Buccaneer Arena, 7201 Hickman Road, Urbandale. $14-$20. Go to bucshockey.com. Friday: Iowa native and (brief) “Saturday Night Live” cast member Brooks Wheelan performs at 9 p.m. in the Great Hall of the Iowa Stae University Memorial Union, 2229 Lincoln Way, Ames. In addition to SNL, Wheelan also appeared on the most recent season of “Girls.” The show is part of Wheelan’s “Brooks Wheelan Falls Back on Standup Comedy (sorta) Tour.” Free. Go to sub.iastate.edu.
Sit On It
Saturday: The Young Women’s Resource Center hosts Sit On It starting at 5:30 p.m. at the Community Choice Credit Union Convention Center, 833 Fifth Ave. Local artists and merchants have designed pieces of furniture and other artwork for live and silent auctions. The event also features a dinner and will honor MAry Lynne Jones as the YWRC’s 2015 Visionary Woman. $65 for people younger than 35, $125 for others. Go to ywrc.org.
Saturday: “Main Chick” rapper Kid Ink returns to perform at 8 p.m. at Seven Flags Event Center, 2100 N.W. 100th St., Clive. Kid Ink’s hits include “Show Me,” “Bad Ass” and “Iz U Down.” In February Kid Ink released his third album, “Full Speed,” featuring the hit “Body Language.” $20. Go to sevenflagseventcenter.com.
Monday: Juice names its annual Mixie Award winners at starting at 6 p.m. Monday in The Basement at the Des Moines Social Club, 900 Mulberry St. Music writer Joe Lawler hosts the event, which features appearances by local musicians, a performance by The Maytags, and drink specials.
