• The Maytags
Thursday: The Maytags play a show to be broadcast live on Iowa Public Radio's Studio One at 7 p.m. in the Des Moines Social Club's Basement Bar, 900 Mulberry St. It's a make-up show for a canceled performance last month. Saturday: The Georgia sludge metal duop Juciver performs at 9 p.m. at Vaudeville Mews, 212 Fourth St. The husband/wife duo of Gazelle Amber Valentine and Edgar Livengood have spent more than 20 years creating maximum sound with minimal instrumentation. Saturday: Party like its 1985 when legendary punk acts The Queers and Richie Ramone perform at 9 p.m. at Gas Lamp, 1501 Grand Ave. The Queers music is largely inspired by The Ramones and The Beach Boys, with frequent vocal harmonies. It's a fitting double bill, since Richie Ramone is a former member of The Ramones, performing on albums like "Too Tough to Die" and "Animal Boy." The Atom Age opens. $10 in advance, $15 at the door. • Dead Sara
Tuesday: Los Angeles hard rockers Dead Sarah play Wooly's, 504 E. Locust St., at 8 p.m. Dead Sarah's hits include "Weatherman" and a cover of Nirvana's "Heart Shaped Box" and the group has a third album, "Pleasure to Meet You," due out soon.
