Slayer, King Diamond to hit Iowa
Want to get a metal fan talking? Bring up Slayer or King Diamond. Want to get that same metal fan excited? Tell them Slayer and King Diamond are playing a show together, like they will July 7 at Stir Cove in Council Bluffs. The bands are performing as part of the Rockstar Mayhem Festival.
Slayer is one of the major thrash metal bands that rose to fame in the '80s (along with Metallica, Megadeth and Anthrax). Slayer has been nominated for multiple Grammys and is best known for songs like "Raining Blood" and "Angel of Death." The band is supposed to release its first album in six years sometime in 2015.
Slayer guitarist Jeff Hanneman passed away in 2013 from what initially sounded like the most metal death ever: necrotizing fasciitis caused by a spider bite. It was later revealed to be alcohol-related cirrhosis, which is slightly less metal than spider-caused flesh-eating bacteria.
King Diamond is both a band and the stage name for the makeup-clad Danish metal musician who fronts the band. King Diamond also fronts the Danish band Mercyful Fate.
Hellyeah, The Devil Wears Prada, Thy Art is Murder and White Chapel also perform
