Friday and Sunday: The hard rock festival Lazerfest is held in its new home, Seven Flags Event Center, 2100 N.W. 100th St., starting at 4:30 p.m. Friday and 2 p.m. Sunday. Friday’s lineup features Halestorm, Young Guns, We Are Harlot, Starset, Holy White Hounds and Girls Rock Des Moines. Sunday is headlined by Five Finger Death Punch with Falling in Reverse, Devour the Day, Green Death, Apathy Syndrome and Through the Darkness. $35 per day or $50 for both days. Go to

Dark Mirror

Saturday: The Des Moines metal band Dark Mirror plays an album release show at 5 p.m. at Vaudeville Mews, 212 Fourth St. In addition to the album, “Patterns of Chaos,” Dark Mirror will have new T-shirts and will be giving away prizes throughout the night. Tech N9ne

Tuesday: Kansas City rapper Tech N9ne brings his Special Effects tour to the Val Air Ballroom, 301 Ashworth Road, West Des Moines, at 8 p.m. The album takes its name from Tech N9ne’s 15th album, “Special Effects,” which was released earlier this month. It features collaborations with Slipknot’s Corey Taylor, plus Lil Wayne, Eminem and others. Krizz Kaliko, Murs, Zuse and others open. $32 in advance, $37 day of show. Go to

Mastodon and Clutch

Tuesday: Georgia metal band Mastodon and Maryland rockers Clutch co-headline a show at 6 p.m. at Seven Flags, 2100 N.W. 100th St., Clive. Mastodon released its sixth album, “Once More ‘Round the Sun,” last year and Clutch is about to release the new album “Psychic Warfare.” The bands have been alternating closing out the show, with Clutch going last at this stop. $29.50.
