Des Moines guitarist involved in bus accident

Melodic hardcore band The Ghost Inside, which includes guitarist Zach Johnson, a Des Moines native, was involved in a bus accident when traveling from Texas to Arizona earlier Thursday.

Multiple reports surfaced this afternoon that the collision took place between the band's tour bus and a semi on highway 62/180 outside of El Paso. The band played in Lubbock, Texas, on Wednesday night and was scheduled to play Phoenix on Friday night.

According to a statement issued on the group's Facebook page, all five members of The Ghost Inside, plus the band's crew, are alive and being treated for injuries. All of the band's remaining United States dates on the run, called the "Locals Only" tour, are cancelled.

"We will update you more when we can," the statement said.

The Ghost Inside headlined Wooly's in March, playing with other metal acts The Acacia Strain, Gideon and In Hearts Wake.
