Heroes get remembered, but the legend of #BringDrakeToDrake never dies.
On the one-year anniversary of his inaugural Des Moines performance, famed Canadian rapper Drake is teasing a return to the Iowa university to which he shares a name. Drake University posted a photo to social media platform Instagram celebrating the anniversary of the rapper’s visit and, 20 minutes later, the Grammy Award-winning performer had responded.
“Be back soon,” Drizzy (@champagnepapi) wrote in a comment.
Drake’s visit to the school — which came in the morning hours after a performance in front of an estimated 13,000 people at Wells Fargo Arena — included the rapper posing for photos on campus and knocking on the doors of sleepy sorority houses.
Relive the show: Drake lights arena stage on fire in debut Iowa show
Students launched the #BringDrakeToDrake social media campaign ahead of his visit in hopes of seeing the star on campus before the show, only to wake the next morning to Instagram posts showing the star visited while most of campus slept.
Drake performed for a total 13,112 people at the arena that night, a blistering two-and-a-half hour show that ran well into the midnight hour. While the post gives Drake faithful hope for the rapper’s return, no Des Moines tour dates for Drizzy are announced at this time.
