Des Moines woman shot Friday in bar brawl
A Des Moines woman was shot in the upper leg during a bar brawl around 2 a.m. Friday morning on the city's east side, police said.
A fight broke out around bar closing time between an unspecified number of people in the parking lot of Triple Double at 910 E. Hull Ave., on the corner of Hull Ave. and East 9th Street.
The bar’s bouncer, while being assaulted by multiple men, fired his gun once into the air in what he told police was an attempt to break up the fight. A police report describes the bouncer as seeing an unknown number of additional shots fired from a light colored sedan leaving the area.
No charges have been filed, Des Moines police Sgt. Paul Parizek said Friday afternoon. Police confiscated the bouncer’s gun at the scene.
Police found a wounded woman inside the bar, where the report says she was uncooperative. Her condition is unknown.
