It’s time again to raise a glass to craft beer in Des Moines.

The Iowa Craft Brew Festival returns June 16 to the East Village, its 8th year in the capital city, bringing roughly 3,000 thirsty beer lovers to the corner of East 4rd and East Walnut streets.

What you need to know:

  • A $30 general admission ticket gets you a souvenir tasting glass and access to sample roughly 350 beers from 74 breweries, cideries and meaderies.
  • Buy your ticket in advance; organizers warn the event will sell out. Tickets can be purchased at app.tikly.co/IBG.
  • It’s not just about the beer. A trio of food options — Melts without Borders, Ceviche and Molly's Cupcakes — plan to be on-site.
  • Want to learn brewing? Ankeny's C&S Brew Supply plans to hold home brew demonstrations.
  • VIP gates open at 1 p.m. with general admission to the festival running 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Iowa Craft Brew Festival, organized by the Iowa Brewers Guild, comes as part of Des Moines Beer Week, an annual summer celebration of central Iowa beer.

Brewery representatives will pour beer from local, regional and national breweries. Confirmed festival breweries include Dogfish Head, Boulevard, Toppling Goliath, Exile, Summit and more. See a full list at Facebook.com/IowaBrewersGuild.

Twelve of the confirmed 74 breweries are new to the event; 63 confirmed breweries call Iowa home.

New this year is a mobile web application that lets attendees track beers they’ve tasted. Developed by Des Moines digital startup FliteBrite, fans can track, take notes, rate and share sampled beers on social media.

The app plans to launch Wednesday, organizers said. Find more information at flitebrite.com.
