A note of music hasn't been played at the 2018 Iowa State Fair and fairgoers already have a reason to be excited for next August.
"American Idol" winner Maddie Poppe, a Clarksville native, plans to play the fair on Aug. 8, 2019.
92.5 KJJY morning show host Eddie Hatfield announced the concert at the fair's opening ceremony, where Poppe sang the National Anthem and took questions from Gov. Kim Reynolds.
Poppe plans to play a free stage, a fair representative said.
