"Life Changes" country star Thomas Rhett heads back to the Hawkeye state next September.
The chart-topping performer plays his "Very Hot Summer" tour Sept. 6, 2019, at Wells Fargo Arena, a Friday night. Tickets go on sale Nov. 30 at 10 a.m. via Hy-VeeTix.com, the Wells Fargo Arena box office (233 Center St.) or by phone, at 844-55-HYVEE.
"Small Town Boy" and "Hell of a Night" singer Dustin Lynch plays main support, with Russell Dickerson and Rhett Akins, Nashville songwriter and Thomas Rhett's father, opening the show.
Thomas Rhett released in 2017 his third full-length album, "Life Changes," which was one of four country albums last year to debut at No. 1 on the all-genre Billboard 200 chart. The album brought Rhett four consecutive No. 1 Billboard Country Airplay tracks: "Craving You," "Unforgettable," "Marry Me" and "Life Changes."
Rhett's scored 11 total No. 1 songs on the Country Airplay chart, including "Die A Happy Man," "It Goes Like This" and "Star of the Show." Rhett took home last week the CMA Award for Music Video of the Year for "Marry Me."
The Nashville star last played Des Moines in August at the Iowa State Fair, drawing 15,775 people, the fair's largest Grandstand audience since Reba McEntire drew about 16,000 in 1994.
Rhett previously appeared at an Iowa show in 2016, opening for Blake Shelton at Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City. Ashton Kutcher joined him during the set, where the two covered beloved Garth Brooks track "Friends in Low Places."
On that night with Kutcher, Rhett told the Register that "we were hanging out … and I was like, ‘You gotta come sing a song with me.’ And I think he had just enough cocktail to be like, ‘All right, dude. Whatta ya wanna sing?’
“That was a fun night.”
Upcoming concerts at Wells Fargo Arena include Bob Seger (Nov. 27), Blake Shelton (March 14, 2019) and Ozzy Osbourne (June 30, 2019). Find more information at iowaeventscenter.com.
