Don't be fooled by a dreary December — summer festival season promises to return in the not-too-distant future.

The annual 80/35 Music Festival returns July 12-13, 2019, organizers said Tuesday via social media. Lineup and ticket information for the Western Gateway Park event plans to be announced in the coming weeks.

2019 will be the latest in July that organizers have held the festival. 80/35 launched on the Fourth of July holiday weekend in 2008, but in 2015 moved to the second weekend of the month to avoid scheduling conflicts with touring acts.

An indie rock, jam and hip-hop festival curated by local nonprofit organization the Des Moines Music Coalition, 80/35 combines a pay-to-see main stage with free stages to bring an estimated 30,000 to downtown Des Moines annually.

Past acts to appear at 80/35 include Kesha, Courtney Barnett, Spoon, Run the Jewels, Weezer, Nas, Modest Mouse, Conor Oberst, Wu-Tang Clan, Wilco, St. Vincent and David Byrne.
