A deep-fried day at the midway now comes with an a cappella nightcap as star group Pentatonix returns to the Iowa State Fair Grandstand.
The vocal five-piece plays Aug. 17 at the Grandstand, a Saturday night. Tickets go on sale Feb. 15 at noon via iowastatefair.org, costing $35, $40 or $50 before fees and fair admission.
Indie pop singer Rachel Platten opens the show.
Pentatonix last performed at the Grandstand in 2017, bringing a sold out crowd of 10,643 to Des Moines' east side. The group mixed classic covers — Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" and John Lennon's "Imagine" — with a cappella originals during the performance.
Pentatonix debuted at the Iowa State Fair in 2013, opening for Nickelodeon star Victoria Justice.
