What to listen to on a rainy day? For The Chainsmokers and Noah Cyrus it's Bon Iver. (March 24) AP
Straight out of the backseat of your Rover and onto the Midway, pop hit maker The Chainsmokers fill one of two remaining slots on this summer's Iowa State Fair Grandstand lineup.
The "Closer" electronic duo plays Aug. 9 on Des Moines' east side, a Friday night. Tickets to see The Chainsmokers go on sale March 7 at 10 a.m. via iowastatefair.org, costing $70, $75 or $80 before fees and fair admission.
The Grammy Award-winning group last played Des Moines in 2017, a Hawkeye state debut to 10,611 at Wells Fargo Arena.
An opening act is yet to be announced.
The Chainsmokers broke out in 2016 with inescapable late summer smash "Closer," a song that spent three months at the top of the all-genre Billboard Hot 100 chart. The group landed a string of top 10 Billboard hits in 2016 and 2017, including "Don't Let Me Down," "Something Just Like This," "Roses" and "Paris."
The Chainsmokers ended 2018 with releasing "This Feeling," a track featuring country pop star Kelsea Ballerini. The band kicked off 2019 by collaborating with Australian pop-punk favorite 5 Seconds of Summer for the single "Who Do You Love."
