Ring in 2020 with 14 sure-to-be-memorable events in the metro Des Moines area
So you’ve made it through the first half of January with your New Year’s resolutions still intact, congratulations!
Before you step into 2020, grab your best outfit, dancing shoes and wallet for a sure-to-be-memorable New Year's Eve. Here are 14 events taking place in the Des Moines metro area to put on your calendar — and many of them are Roaring Twenties themed, so get out your flapper dresses.
Roaring into 2020 NYE Party
“Meet me at the Holiday Inn!” No, the rapper Chingy will not be there, but you can still bring in the new year with a 1920s flair. This year’s event includes swimming, prizes, dancing, games, a midnight balloon drop, a hidden speakeasy and a breakfast buffet.
You must be 21 or older to rent a room, and an adult 21 and older must be present all evening. Wristbands are required for the event, and IDs will be checked throughout the night.
Each room is allowed to have eight guests join the festivities, including a free breakfast buffet the following morning.
All ages are welcome, but only party-goers 21 and older will have access to the hidden speakeasy, which will include pool tables, darts, Silver Strike Bowling, Golden Tee Golf, and amusement games.

Noce's fifth annual Wild Party
This Gatsby-esque black-tie party will feature music from Chicago vocalist Rose Colella, along with Max Wellman and the Des Moines Big Band.
Tangerine Food Company will serve food inspired by the jazz age. Lower price tickets will get you access to the building, but if you want to a seat, you'll have to purchase higher tier tickets.

The Great Axe-sby
If the name didn't give it away, the 1920s themed party will feature a costume contest, the NOLA Jazz Band — and of course, you can throw axes or do an escape room.

Bar Louie Jordan Creek
Two levels of tickets for the 1920s-themed soiree; free, which gets you the Champagne toast, and $50 which gets you four drink tickets, an appetizer, and the Champagne toast.

Nightingale NYE 2020
Turn up handcrafted cocktails, a champagne toast at midnight, appetizers, dessert buffet, party favors and reserved seating at Nightingale Cocktail. The full cocktail menu, beer list, house Champagne, and liquor drinks will all be one price.

The Garden's 2020 NYE Bash and Shows
Party-goers will have a chance to win more than $2,000 in cash prizes during the balloon drop at midnight, which will be available in all three bars at The Garden.
Drag shows begin at 9:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. in the show lounge. Domita Sanchez will be the special guest, and Mari Jane will be the host.

Kevin Hayes' NYE Party
Dance all night with DJ Kevin Hayes playing a variety of music in the main ballroom. There will be a Champagne toast at midnight.
Five dollars of each ticket sold goes to Des Moines area Toys for Tots and will apply to next year’s toy drive. You must be 21 and older to attend the event. Designated drivers will receive a free ticket and soda all night, but you'll need to send a message via Facebook to get that ticket. Tickets are general admission with tables available on a first-come-first-served basis.

Bubble into 2020
Do you want to overlook the downtown city lights of the East Village? Party on the sixth floor of The Republic on Grand's lounge located inside the AC Hotel.
There will be live music from Jordan Beem from 9 p.m. to midnight, a Champagne toast when the clock strikes midnight and a dessert bar.
For the VIP package, you'll get dinner at The Republic on Grand from 6 to 9 p.m., and late-night hors d'oeuvres and Champagne in the AC Lounge at midnight. A hangover breakfast buffet also is included from and runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
To book a night at the AC Hotel, head to Marriott.com and select Tuesday, Dec. 31 for your arrival and Wednesday for departure. After selecting your dates, add how many rooms and how many guests per room.

A private affair
Your Private Bar in West Des Moines will provide a selection of games, handcrafted cocktails, craft beer, a balloon drop, and a Champagne toast at midnight. All attendees must be 21 and older to attend. Tickets include two drinks, snacks, and a Champagne toast.

Laugh your socks off with Comedy Xperiment
Laughter can be the best medicine — ring in 2020 with Des Moines’ longest-running improvisational comedy group.
The performance will feature short-form and improv skits. There will be a dessert bar and social hour with the performers, and a Champagne toast at midnight.

'Long Goodbye' to 2019
Enjoy live music from Des Moines’ very own The Nadas and David Watson. Book to reserve a room for Hotel Renovo and Revel Hotel Des Moines Urbandale. King rooms come with two wristbands for the event. Two Queen and Suites come with four tickets.
From 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Revel Hotel, partygoers can enjoy cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, live music from David Watson and brewing samples from Confluence.
Then over at Hotel Renovo, the Nadas take the stage from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. With your commemorative flute, toast the new year at midnight with Champagne.
On Jan. 1, enjoy brunch from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. The Nadas will host an acoustic set on the Hotel Renovo pool desk from 10 a.m.

Big ole country bash
Are you a lover of country music? Join Adventureland for a New Years' Eve Country Bashfeaturing Insphyre Performance Group, Ted Stockton, Royce John’s Band, Brad Morgan Band, and Red Dirt Renegade.
You must be 21 and older to attend. Large bags and purse will not be permitted. Clutch-sized purses or wallets should measure no larger than 4.5 by 6.5 inches.
A barbecue dinner from 7 to 11 p.m will be available for $10. Guests can also enjoy a full cash bar, complimentary photo booth, midnight balloon drop, and the main street arcade.
VIP tables are $300 and include eight admission tickets, $5 arcade card per person, two bottles of Champagne for the table, and each person gets a drink and dinner ticket.
However, season pass holders for 2019 get $25 admission, even on the day of the event. You must present your season pass when redeeming your voucher at the event.
