Boasting an artisanal pizza cooked in about three minutes, Blaze Fast-Fire’d Pizza will open its first Iowa restaurant in a downtown entertainment and retail development near Principal Park this summer.

Blaze will offer a 2,100-square eatery with seating for 68 inside and 48 outside in the new 300MLK building at southwest corner of Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway and Southwest Third Street, the former brewery building that now includes several restaurants, a bar and retail businesses.

Blaze will have open-kitchen format that allows customers to watch pizzas being made. Guests can choose a pizza from the menu or create their own. An 11-inch pizza costs about $8 and the pies are cooked in 180 seconds, according to the company.

The Des Moines store will offer gluten-free dough and vegan cheese, along with wine and craft beer. The store is being constructed using both recycled and sustainable materials and energy-efficient lighting. Packaging will be eco-friendly and compostable.

The California-based company was founded in 2012 and operates 124 stores in 28 states and Canada.
