The metro's restaurant choices are growing. Here's 10 new eateries that have opened this year.

Gusto Pizza Co., the locally grown, made-from-scratch pizza restaurant, has opened its fourth metro area location.

Gusto opened in a revamped building in Clocktower Square, 2900 University Ave. in West Des Moines on Dec. 21. It’s located in the building where Yanni's Grill and Vineyard restaurant operated before closing in 2007.

The restaurant seats about 85 in the dining room and an additional 30 in a private room, said Josh Holderness, who owns the pizza chain with Tony Lemmo and Joe McConville. A patio will open this spring with room for about 40 people, he said.

The West Des Moines location has a menu that mirrors the other locations, he said. Gusto serves pizza, salads, homemade pasta, sandwiches, appetizers, soups and desserts. Like the other locations, the West Des Moines store has gluten-free pizza crusts available.

Owners McConville, Lemmo and Holderness created Gusto after their Frank's Pizza in the Drake University area closed in 2009. The first store opened in 2011 on Ingersoll, which was followed by far west West Des Moines in September 2013 and the Johnston Gusto in April 2015.

Baceline Investments has been remodeling Clocktower since it bought the center in 2013. Baceline brought in Fresh Thyme Farmers Market grocery store and a handful of other retailers to the center.

Gusto hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
