Need a ride to your precinct on caucus night? Come Monday, central Iowa caucusgoers can hop on public transportation for free.

The Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority has partnered with the Iowa Democratic and Republican parties to offer free rides from 4 p.m. Monday through caucus night for all local, express and on call services.

“This is another great development that we’re happy to announce as a party ahead of caucus night,” Iowa Democratic Party Chair Troy Price said in a statement Wednesday.

The free rides are part of an effort to make the Iowa caucuses more accessible, according news releases from both party organizations.

"This will make it easier for folks in the Des Moines area to make it to their precinct location and participate in Iowa's cherished first-in-the-nation caucus," Jeff Kaufmann, chairman of the Republican Party of Iowa, said in a news release.
