Opening of Des Moines-area's first Steak 'n Shake pushed back to early 2020

The Des Moines metro was scheduled to get its first-ever outpost of a beloved burger franchise in September, but those plans have changed.
Steak 'n Shake had previously announced plans to open a new franchise location in West Des Moines off Mills Civic Parkway at 815 S. 51st St on September 1.
That opening date has been pushed back to sometime in the first three months of 2020, a Steak 'n Shake representative told the Register.
Des Moines residents will have to wait a few months longer than previously planned to get their hands on the classic steakburger with thin and crispy fries and a hand-dipped milkshakes.
As previously reported, the 3,412-square-foot Steak 'n Shake still plans to be full table service and a drive-thru with breakfast being served after it's open for three months and will consider going 24 hours after being open 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. the first six months that it's open.
In the meantime, there are three other Steak 'n Shakes in the state with one in Coralville and two in Davenport.
