Ankeny, Southeast Polk and Urbandale cancel Thursday classes, but most Des Moines area schools reopening with 2-hour delay
With temperatures in Des Moines expected to hit a solid zero degrees by mid-morning, most metro school districts will reopen Thursday.
However, because of transportation issues, the Ankeny school system announced Thursday morning that classes would be canceled. Southeast Polk and Urbandale classes are also canceled.
Dangerously cold temperatures forced schools to close across the state Wednesday.
Des Moines Public Schools and most other metro school districts will be delayed two hours Thursday morning. Most morning activities and preschool classes have been canceled.
More information about closures and activities can be found online.
