The Iowa State Fair has closed for another year. College football is gearing up for another season. School's back in session (for most). It's time to enjoy the last hours of summer before gearing up for another Iowa fall. Here's a look at what's going on around Des Moines ... 

Plot twist. 

The Iowan competing on this year's edition of popular reality television show "Big Brother" learned his wife was pregnant ... while live on camera. The impassioned moment moved Jason Dent, the Humston native, to tears. Read about Iowa's "Big Brother contestant in full here

Reba! Shania! 

We're not done with 2017 but summer 2018 is already shaping up to be a busy one for country fans in Des Moines. Announced last week, the Iowa Events Center unveiled Shania Twain would be performing at Wells Fargo Arena on July 25, 2018. Additionally, the Iowa State Fair announced the first Grandstand act of next year: Reba McEntire, on Aug. 10, 2018.
